Never-ending projects

Peace be upon you! :)

Hi. I hope you're having a great Sunday! Last couple of weeks I've been busy with a lot of things, and rasanya will be a lot busier in the upcoming weeks. T__T Moving on, my classmates and I are gonna be involved with an awareness event in campus next week (it's a part of our project for Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory 1 subject) where we're gonna set up booths and educate people about AIDS. 

My group members (Tracy, KT, Jassie, Hana, Lavi, Tya) and I chose to work on the pathophysiology (the process or mechanism that leads to the disease) of HIV/AIDS. Kok Tang and I are in charge of games, mine will be focused on the structure of HIV while KT is doing on the pathophysiology.

Label this retrovirus! I added one extra answer which is not supposed to be in the diagram. This took forever to complete, tambah bila nak gam those tiny round papers. @_@

By the way, my classmates and I are gonna be organizing a Non-communicable disease (NCD) event in mid-January next year! It's a project for our Haematology & Phlebotomy subject and guess who did Mr Raja pick as the director? Go on, guess.

Me. O_O

Yup. I remembered going "Haaaah?" and asked "Whhhhhhy" but I don't remember much what he said after that cause I was still confused. "Yeah, sure. I can do this. Yup. yeah." I keep telling myself that when in fact I was freaking out in my head. He said not to worry because I have a lot of people to help organize the event, but still I was like;

The first one was organized last semester by our seniors and officiated by the Dean himself. This time around the event will be officiated by the President. Nampak tak kenapa risau? Nampak tak. T__T Anyway, Tracy (co-director) and I held a meeting a few days later to select the committee members and hopefully everything goes well. Insyaallah. So far we've worked on the tagline, finding organisations to collaborate with, ideas for fundraising, stuff like that. :)

As for non-campus related news, my mum and I went to Jalan Pahang, KL this morning to buy a book at Kamal bookstore! To those who are wondering, it's located right in front of HKL. You can see a lot of shop lots within walking distance next to Grand Seasons hotel. Kamal tu kedai dia dekat hujung hujung, right behind a bus stop. Sebelah dia Pizza hut. Haa. Kalau terlepas, depan sikit jumpa roundabout. Rasanya dah detail dah tu hehe. Here, check out this blog for more info. *click me*

After I got the book, we went to Viva mall to look at some furniture and ended up going to a bookfest that we didn't even know about in the first place. We just happened to be there. Last day pulak tu. Memang rezeki wuwuwu. RM5 for each book, are you kidding me. *__*

There were SO many books, tak tau where to start looking! Umi bought two things: A magazine with pictures of kitchen makeovers, and a cook book. After scanning through each genre and jumping from reading one synopsis to another, I decided to get these four books. Yup, only four. :) 

Hello there, lovelies.

Looking forward to reading these books. I haven't read "Sing You Home", it's still neatly wrapped. Also, I haven't finished reading Lone Wolf. (currently reading this one) This is why I don't buy so many books at once. Makin banyak buku pending nak baca. I'm not even an avid reader. .__.

Young, and silly.

I was cleaning my room, and came across..

My old diary.

My biggest nightmare during primary and secondary school? To have my diary being read by people other than myself. Just the thought of it kinda freaks me out. I have a friend who doesn't mind having people reading her diary. *ahem* Jassie *ahem* In fact, I remember her telling me her sister has read it before. My reaction was basically this;

Have you gone mad?!

So I decided to read this old ancient book of mine after I've finished arranging some books on my study table. Nak baca pon malu. Malu gila. When I was in high school, I got rid of my diary I had when I was in primary school. Siap koyakkan satu satu sebelum buang. Nampak tak paranoid dia tu.

"Whoops. Terkoyak pulak diary ni."

 In high school, I started expressing myself through writing in a diary again. Sebab masa tu rasa perlu. Sekarang? Sekarang rasa perlu buang untuk avoid future embarrassment.

Perlu dibakar. Dibakar as soon as possible.

Now, at 21 and reading back my diary when I was 14/15 years old feels like I'm reading someone else's hand written thoughts. What I had in mind of what's important was way, WAY different back then. I was different. I was obsessed with boy bands *ahem* kpop *ahem*. Now, not so much although I listen to DBSK every now and then. :)

Oh, and having a crush on someone can really turn you into this crazy, obsessive girl. I was that girl. Was. Muahahaha. 14-year-old me would not stop talking about that guy. I feel like I wanna go back in time in a freaking TARDIS and slap the living daylights out of myself. It was embarrassing.


Of course, I didn't regret having a crush on him, he was a great guy. I'm sure he still is, wherever he might be now. I thought it was really adorable reading that time when he gave me chocolates and key chain from Mecca in a red plastic bag during recess at school (I think he just got back from umrah masa tu). I can say that I wrote a lot about school and a lot about him sampai my reaction (towards myself) bila baca diary sendiri;

"Whoa. Gila ah budak ni."

On a more serious note, I was friends with the wrong people back then. People who would spread rumours about you yang kau pon tak tahu, people who are friends with you for the wrong reasons. Yang suka memecah belahkan orang. Yang suka ingat diri dia hebat sebab suka cari gaduh. Sampai diri sendiri pon tak faham kenapa dia macam tu. That was high school. But through reading that same diary, I realized that I have made such amazing, supportive friends who are crazy as much as I am if not more. Hehe. Those are the same people I have remained good, no, bestestestest friends with until now. Sampai university, and hopefully sampai bila bila. :)

In the end, I'm glad I read it. It was embarrassing, yes but it was great being able to remind myself of all the things I've forgotten about 6/7 years ago. Like when my friend Zaireen tried to comfort me when I received a devastating news about someone, or when my friend Mina did something funny and I laughed just reading about it, or when my friend and I texted each other, counting down to the launching of our Malaysian astronaut before he went to space. 

All in all, thanks 14-year-old me for reminding me of all the saddest, 

happiest moments I had back then.

Dear reader,

I'm baaaack~

Peace be upon you! :)

 I don't even know where to begin. I've abandoned this blog for a very VERY long time. (melampau doh kau shez sampai lebih setahun tak update) Sorry! I got so carried away with other things and I made my blog private for a year with no update whatsoever. Yikes. Okay, enough about that. Let's move on!



Warning: A very long post ahead!

For starters, let me just say this past year has been really interesting for me to say the least. I've made new friends, got closer with some of my classmates whom I've never hung out before, turned 21, obtained Dean's list and President's list, and I've learned so much throughout the year.

Some of the subjects we had include histology technique, medical entomology, research methodology, systemic pathology, medical parasitology, and pharmacology and toxicology. We even went to Templer park to take mosquito samples. One of the students sempat tangkap Toxorhynchites larvae! (its larvae feeds on other larvae) Here's a picture of the adult mosquito I took during the lab session.

For systemic pathology, we had to do a 3D model of an organ with a specific disease. My group members and I had to do a model of pulmonary tuberculosis. We were one of the six winners for the project! :D Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the other 3D models since semua orang pon sibuk dengan project masing masing at the time.

It looks flat, but trust me, it's 3D. :p At first we didn't know how to attach the bronchus to the lungs, so we ended up using my old pin tudung, mana boleh cucuk kita cucuk. Yew siap guna bekas kotak biskut dia to make the base, and Jassie and Tracy sacrificed their toilet rolls hahaha. The process was messy. Trying to use hpv glue, newspaper, tissue paper and all, but it was worth it.


For pharmacology and toxicology, our assignment involved singing a song about paraquat. Paraquat is a very toxic drug which is widely used as herbicide and can cause organ damage, and acute respiratory distress syndrome to name a few. (kat sini paraquat dah kena ban) So we came up with our own lyrics and sang to the beat of Lorde's 'Royal'. Nope, no video here. Segan. Hahaha

"Let me tell you about a drug named paraquat.."

"...aka 1,1-dimethyl-4,4-bipyridinium dichloride"

Beat that, Lorde.

Moving on to medical parasitology, we did a video assignment on Strongyloides stercoralis (threadworm) and won first place! (RM300 to be shared with 9 group members, that is). It was a headache trying to come up with ideas. Who's gonna do what, who's gonna edit and all that. Anyway, here's our final product posted by Yew on YouTube.

Next up, research methodology. This subject is basically to prepare us for our final year research project. If tak lepas this subject, cannot proceed to research project 1. We have to fill in a form to choose our supervisor, and wait for a few weeks to get the result.


Alhamdulillah I got the supervisor that I wanted (he is an awesome entomology lecturer) cause I had a basic idea of what I plan to do for my research which involves either entomology or parasitology since those two subjects are some of my favourite subjects to date. So far so good, but I need to do some more literature review. Insyaallah I will update on my research bila dah start.

Oh! Before I forget, we (biomedical science students) went to Gerik, Perak for a community service! So our main event is called Imra' Ramadhan where we have three sub-events under it (Program orang asli, program rumah anak yatim and urban poor). I'm placed under program ke rumah orang asli and let me tell you it's one of the most tiring most wonderful experience ever.

To help raise money for the event, my friends and I started to sell fruits all around the campus. We tried selling them in class before presentations so they have something to munch during the presentation. It's a win-win. Haha. Other than that, the students tried to collect donations and sell pre-loved items.


I was in charged under activities with the children and we did story telling, a little experiment involving soap, food colouring and milk, and we also had an outdoor balloons activity.

Presents we got them. :) We also gave everyone a goodie bag with snacks in them. They absolutely loved it. They were very energetic and very curious especially during the little experiments that we did with them.

Oh! And by the way, Salsa (my roommate back when I was staying in Prima) got married last August! The thing is, I formatted my laptop a month ago and everything including pictures semua habis. Habis semuanyaaaa (sebab tu tak banyak gambar). A few je dapat selamatkan since I have a copy from other social media sites. >_<

Soo pretty. *_* My mum berkenan dengan her dimples.
